If you don't want to make it seem like a cold approach. Go completely indirect, and just start a random conversation. It can be anything.

Coffee shop. Sit next to her. "Why does it smell so good in here?"

Stand next to her. "How tall are you?"

And that's it. You go from there. Remember you approached them, so it's your responsability to keep the conversation going until they trust you. Start showing your fun personality and everything will be natural. Be relaxed and not too invested in them. Have a normal conversation that does not really need to end in getting numbers. It's good for practice.
