Despite being a country with some negative reputation and stereotypes, people here are very friendly and supportive. Yes, some people of the older 40+ generation can be ultra conservative and brainwashed, but young people are very chill and open minded. If you break some "traditional gender roles" no one will judge you, people just dont care, they will support what's best for you.

As for feminism, its almost nonexistent here. Because when you live in a country that has male only conscription, women have actual empathy through all the bs young guys have to go through after finishing college even if they are not eligible to get drafted. But aside from that, there is pretty much no gender inequalities here, there is no gender specific problems which hurt men or women here, people just live chill and mind their own business. Also worth mentioning that 40% in the parliament here are women which is quite progressive to be fair (in Hungary it's only 15 %).

Another thing i like about our people is that it is not as oversexualised as America or Russia, most people below 25 are virgins because they are only looking for a lifetime partner, so there is no virgin shaming here anymore which was a problem a certain time ago. I would also say young people are becoming less and less homophobic (i would even argue youth in some Southern US states are more homophobic than in Belarus)

Now, of course as a citizen of Minsk i do not know about people of other localities so it could be a bit different but all the people i know here (including those from the provinces who moved here to study with me) are very generous.

Speaking about political spectrum, people here rarely fall for extreme right and left (or any) ideologies, form their own opinions and they respect others' differing opinions as long as those don't harm anyone else. This country has already went through many wars which caused a lot of casualties so people here just want to live in peace.

As for moving here, if you earn money from a foreign company you can live a king. You can rent an apartment for 200-400$ a month and eat big on 10-15$ a day (or if you like shawarmas, even on 5$ a day). The only problem is though, there is nothing to do here in winter: November through April its always depressing outside, average is 0 degrees so if it snows it often melts immediately, slush and ice everywhere, windy, ugly bare trees until April 20 or even May, almost no sun November-February. Summers here are gorgeous though, lots of beautiful lakes to swim in, and if certain things here change it could become a magnet for expats. Many people don't speak good English but its getting better
