I am 22 Male, people with disabilities, hearing, and communication, and was growing up in a south asian country, where, I was not allowed to talk with anyone in my age, even not woman either. I was always studying. Thats how I ended up not having social live, and no social skills.
And When I came to Canada, as international student, in first 2 years, I was having lots of issues to talk with people. Even woman, some men were annoyed adn creeped out by me. When I literally had no idea whats happening. And ended up being so lonely and sad, no social life. In 2nd year, my residence in university, staffs were treating me wrongly, wrong rumours around me for my issues. And I did tried to go therapists at my university. But they were not helping me, mean, they weren't willing to hold sessions with me, When I shown lots of interests to that. tried for 5-7 times. Not worked. I then became so depressed, wanted to d!e.
After that year, for remain last 3 years, I was trying to find therapists privately. A lot of them was saying, they work with lonely people too. Then when I go them, they at the first initial appointment says, "I can't sorry. I am not experienced, or maybe, you may have autism. Etc etc." And even one of those therapist, faked it, told me to take the main session, there, she said, sorry sorry. We are not experienced. etc etc. And she charged me 250$ per session. Like bro? Great job... for daylight robbery 😑
Anyways, fast forward, after 5 years, since first time finding therapist, I did found a therapist. She works in a clinic. Very experienced, amazing. And Her clinic is a small business founded by woman, and co founder is man, aka her husband. And the clinic have a mission, making mental health easy accessible to everyone, no matter what kinds of issues patients have!. And their therapists are trained a lot, about working on mental issues, that are rare, non common, or not popular in mainstream.
Here I wanted to say, if you look for therapists for loneliness, or even intimacy issues, it is super hard to find them, even on Psychology too. And look at this clinic, literally almost 80% of their 150 therapists are trained, adn willing to work on those, no matter, how complex or rare your issue is.
Here I wanted to say, hell, the mental health care is so inaccessible, that, a lot of people like me, is having hard time to reach it. I am lucky to find this amazing therapist, but wish, I found it in 5 years ago. I was trying hard, showing so much interest dedication for finding and working on this my loneliness issues.
And Look, I don't think, a lot of people would have such motivation as me. So, I sharing here, and want to say, Investing in Mental Health, and having accessibility to them as easy as possible is very important, to solve lots of issues, crisis. Also, you know what, therapy can challenge people's toxic views on Gender, especially in men, which is very common problem. And accessibility to mental education, psycho education in high school for boys and girls is very important thing to invest in too.
