As u/commonfable put it. The purpose of this subreddit is to help people become the best version of themselves. Of course there are people that give/take manipulative advice, but understand that this subreddit isn’t about manipulating (despite society thinking so).

The best way to not get played is to not sleep with a guy for a few weeks and spend that time getting to know him.

It irks me when girls say they were played. This is after she sleeps with him on the first date and continues to have a sex based relationship for weeks afterwards and then to be dumped after she wants more.

He was enjoying the sex and so was she. I Don't know why girls think if she gives sex that it should progress into a relationship. She was obviously enjoying it too.

Getting played is her poor judgement.

Yeah well remember a lot of guys are using these pickup techniques because they're absolutely clueless in dating, so don't be too harsh.

Women are welcome here, as is everyone. We had women as moderators, and there are many informative analyses of PUA theories by feminist women. There is a particularly famous feminist who looked at the PUA community as a research project, then ended up dating a PUA and watching the scene for years. She made the astute observation that this community is mostly a way for people to discuss their personal and sexual issues, in a way they perhaps never did before. They don't even know how to talk about it so we have a bit of jargon that helps provide a framework for an emotionally engaging social contact. Many guys (and women too) are not sufficiently conscious of the social signals they are receiving, and they are sending signs of their own, even if they don't realize it. Much of what we do is attuning ourselves to a new way of interacting, observing our our behavior from a more objective viewpoint.
