it took me a few months but the more you do it, the less scary it will be......its like jumping out of an airplane. at first its really hard but then the more times you do it, the less scary it will be

As far as I'm aware you musn't eliminate it, just lower it to managable level. After a while of not practising approaches, it comes back to, give or take, your previous level

It's not just about the number of approaches, it's about where your focus is and how you process what's going on in your head before, during and after the approach. Do it wrong and you will basically train your brain to feel anxiety every time your approach, which in a worst case scenario will mean you're gonna struggle with AA even after 5000 approaches.

My go-to advice is meditation and reading this. The first is an article about meditation and the benefits of doing it, along with instructions on how to do it at the end of the article, and the second one is a post about how our minds tend to label everything and how that can lead to unproductive habits and behaviors. Practicing meditation until you can put yourself in a meditative state as you interact with others will also help, and for me it was a pretty big gamechanger.
