Context: pick up arts , source: Tyler Durden, a very famous pick up artist , and this forum is called "seduction", on the sidebar you will see pick up arts sources. It's his nickname, of course. Nobody uses his real name in PUA.

The idea is apparent and common sense to anyone who has approached women and tried to demonstrate value and status, demonstrate who he is, in a congruent way, before she rejects him, and eventually fucked her.

If you are not already experienced in this area, and just skimming in curiosity, it won't make sense. Just like something a chemical engineer says about household cleaning chemicals, which is apparent to all chemists, makes no sense to me.

Pick up is not "Barney Stinson" type lying to and manipulating a girl in order to convince her to fuck you.

Pick up is becoming a man, fixing your inner game and psychology, and using conversational techniques, non verbal language and experience from countless encounters to attract a woman on a gut level within minutes, and make her want to have babies with you, and stick with you for as long as you want her around.

Now, if, when you approach women, you have the mindset "I am going to demonstrate WHAT A COOL AND AWESOME person I am within 3 minutes, in a way that attracts her and makes want to fuck me, without kissing her ass or begging her but qualifying her"; chances are you will be far more successful than a guy who approaches with the mindset of "I am going to say this pick up line and maybe she will think I'm handsome and want to sleep with me." Pick up is not a natural science. Different things work in the field, even opposing views.

What's important is the mindset, and cliches like this help people understand and get in a mindset.

See? Witty?

That line makes you approach women within 3 seconds of seeing her instead of hesitating and failing her receptivity test, and probably end up not approaching because you build it up in your head and became afraid.
