Met a cute girl at a faculty icebreaker event for my college a couple of days ago. We clicked pretty well, but she only has Instagram and we don't share any classes. Thoughts on DMing to get to know more/inviting her to hangout?

I'm super new to the DM game, but Saturday (at 11pm) I commented a question on her recent photo, she replied, I continued the conversation naturally via DM, got her number, met her at 11:45, and made out shortly after. I think it's all about brevity.

Why? Were you there solely to meet potential dates?

(1) No? So why are you worried that you or anybody else might feel you were? The only thing that matters is your own judgement. Everybody else is entitled to their opinion about you. But that has no effect on you.

(2) Yes? Good for you. You are totally allowed to go anywhere solely to meet potential dates.

What I'm trying to show with the above is that you seem preoccupied with how you come across, either to other people or to yourself. Or you judge yourself if you approach a girl or a location purely to see if you can meet cute girls.

You should have asked her number, why? Because you want her number. Because you are interested. So don't hold back anymore and ask her out, do it in the way you think is best.
