I hit this rejection line a lot when I ask girls out. For example, one of my local baristas laughs at all my dorky jokes, asks about my job, asks about my musical taste. Never show overt interest in her. Decide to hang around to the end of her shift and leave a note asking her to a metal gig with my number and fb. Few days later, I get a fb message saying 'thanks, but I'm not ready for anything romantic with anyone'.

I don't really care about this specific example, but it seems to be that as soon as I show higher than average interest, I get hit with this line. Am I coming on too heavy?
