Hey. In reality, my problem is much more serious than just the inability to communicate through text.
There is one girl from my university that I always knew was very attractive. Surprisingly enough, during the four years of attending the same university, the closest we got to each other was in the university cafeteria. Nevertheless, we had a lot of mutual friends, so we became friends on Facebook shortly after graduation.
The more I read her posts and comments, the more clearly I understood that she is keen on the same things as I. Not that I fell in love with her just for that reason, but this definitely made her seem even more attractive.
In spite of that, it was her who wrote me regarding a movie I had commented on somewhere else. Considering that we are both avid movie fans, the conversation was rather easygoing. Yet, neither of us decided to keep on talking after the movie topic had been over.
Next time we talked was on Facebook again when I spontaneously decide to send my best wishes on her birthday. I do not remember the whole chat, but we ended on how much in common we had and how strange it was we didn't get to know each other while at university.
Several months passed. Our communication was limited to liking one another's posts.
A few months later she wrote again to share her thoughts on a music album we both liked. This time the conversation did not end as abruptly as it happened the first time. And it was finally not only about movies or music. For 2-3 days we chatted actively until it got too late and one of us was too sleepy to text back.
I am incredibly bad at interpreting girls' signs and hints, but it seemed obvious that she was interested. She mentioned how tired she was of her previous relationships in which she and her partner were from different planets and this experience convinced her that she needed someone to share her interests and ideas.
I tried to stay cool and neutral so as not to seem too interested (which I already was). Then we somehow agreed that I would take her to a fellow physician as she was scared of going alone.
We both forgot about seeing the doctor since the next day I asked her out. She did not hesitate to accept the proposal. Yet, that was the point when everything, presumably, went wrong. Starting from the next day she no longer answered my messages quickly. Don't think that I'm paranoid - everyone can be busy or not in a mood to answer, but the change was obvious. It now took her several hours to answer my messages even though I knew that she is an always-online person.
Our date, however, did happen as planned (but not exactly). The first mistake was to go to the theater. I looked good with a beautiful bouqet of flowers I had bought for her. The play was depressive and emotionally suppressing, and we both found it awful.
Before the play started, we were sitting in a cafe nearby, but it seemed that she just didn't care. Although we had subjects to discuss, the talk was very strained and she was frequently distracted by her phone.
Right after the play, we briefly discussed how mediocre it was. She seemed confused and disappointed either by me or by the play. I had no idea and there were no signs she was interested in continuing the date (if we can call it so).
The best option I could offer was to walk her home. As we were walking, it started to seem that the terseness had gone. Now I think it was more related to the fact that she couldn't wait to finally come home and put an end to the terrible date.
We said goodbye and she hugged me. That must have looked like a consoling hug.
In an hour she asked me if I was already home and chatted for a little while. The next day I decided to ask her out again hoping that our next would be better than the first. Probably, that was the moment when I ruined even the tiny ray of hope if it existed. Instead of asking her out directly I asked her about her weekend plans. She answered that she had hoped to hang out with her friends. I don't know why but that response of hers made me think everything was over (probably, it really was). I wrote "OK" and didn't write her for two weeks. She didn't either. My second attempt at asking her out for a second date was even worse. She said that she had plenty of work to do so she had no idea when she would be free to go out. Now it was, indeed, over.
For some reason, a few days ago I thought about her and how stupidly everything ended without even having begun. I had no better idea than forget about the past experience and start from scratch. As at the beginning of the year, we sent each other some casual message after which she no longer answered my last message. No doubt, some mistakes can't be undone.
End of the story. This is an excellent example of how one man can fuck everything up. I was, evidently, bad at, at least, everything.
Yet, I still can't understand whether it was my stupid behavior or just that she wasn't interested enough in the first place.
Looking forward to your comments. You can just say what an idiot I am:) That will be fair.
