Charisma vs Pickup. Ever notice these two ways of relating with people to be at odds? Got any thoughts on this?

If you read books on Charisma, or How to Win Friends and Influence People, you'll see that these to ways of relating with people advise you to behave in different ways.

Any thoughts on this?

I'm thinking it's all related to Status. I haven't read Jason Capital's new book yet. He's no doubt gone a long way in a short time. It's like Charisma connects with people, pickup alters perception of status which allows you to move up the latter to "higher" level people, then you can employ some Charisma.

I just read a story of a woman who by chance went on a date with two politician running for office. With politician 1 the date was fantastic. She felt he was the most clever person around. With politician 2 the date was even more fantastic. She felt she was the most clever person around. Which politician won the election (and perhaps the girl)? The second one.

Yet..Bill Clinton, known to be Charismatic gets BJ's form...well you know who from.
