I agree that you going for the kiss is a good strategy.

But, the guy she went off with obviously seemed like more of "the life of the party". Or at least that is the way you have described him.

I hate to admit this, but your description gives me the impression that you were not on top yesterday. That is completely fine! At least you were out there gaining experience.

I would keep her number. She just sounds like she has standards most would not be used to. Just don't let her waste your time, and keep filling your pipeline with new leads, and all will be well.

Why even go for the kiss at all?

You should've just focused on having fun. You went for a kiss FIRST and then the rest of the night she had to put a guard up. The more you pushed the matter, the further she had to reinforce her walls. I would have just danced and talked and been indifferent to the outcome of the evening, and then dropped her your number and expressed interest in her.

To further pursue her at this point would be like trying to infiltrate a castle with a moat, a perimeter fence, and infrared snipers. Move on to the next one! If you show this one you can have a good time with someone else, she may give you a second look!

Why the kiss obsession. A kiss is not a close, repeat after me. Did you even get to know her? Did you even bother? She made a good effort to at least invite you to enjoy time with her and you were all handsy grabby guy.
