study abroad or internship

That's a hard decision man. Really depends on what your long term goals are. If internships in your field are paid well, it could afford you to get your own place and provide you funds to travel to the countries you've considered studying abroad in anyway. If you really want to move to another country some day though, the study abroad would be really good to get a true feeling of the culture.

I was faced with the same decision in undergrad, and I chose the internship. I don't regret it for a second. It provided me with a good amount of savings as well as an income to support my rent and lifestyle while graduating school debt free. I even had enough to visit a friend studying abroad for 3 weeks, so I got some of the international experiencing without commiting to a full semester. Oh, and internships are pretty much essential to getting a good entry job these days anyway.

Dude study abroad for sure. I did internships in college and can't say that they had any effect whatsoever on my job search. My travels, on the other hand, contain many of the most memorable experiences of my life. If you are competent and have a good personality you can do well in your career regardless of internships.

A couple other things to mention: it will be WAY harder to travel once you are out of school, you pretty much have to reserve it for between jobs for 4+ month trips, and many people get stuck in the "I wish I could but I don't have the time/money etc" mindset. Also, everybody I know who has studied abroad has said that it was transformative for them.

Think about it this way: you will have WAY more opportunities to further your career once you get out of school, but how often will you have the opportunity to live abroad for 4 months? Not saying it's impossible, just way less accessible.

It depends who you are but in 50 years which would be more important to you?

I was abroad for 3 months and it's one of the most beautiful experiences of my life, I will never forget my time there. I learned a new language, a new culture, and gained a new perspective. Plus women love good looking foreign men.

A good career is always important, but you won't always have the time to live somewhere else for an extended period of time. If you are dedicated you can always find a good job

Internship will likely be the best option careerwise. You're likely to get a job from it or it will figure prominently in getting a job somewhere else. Remember women are attracted to men that have a mission other than getting women. This could be the key to getting the most important part of your life handled.

Get away. Push your social boundaries and you will blossom. I moved to London 4 years ago on a whim and I am 10 times the man I was before. My confidence, conversational skills, and social dexterity have skyrocketed. I talk to whoever I want whenever I want, and being fro somewhere else is an easy conversation starter. Unless you think the only opportunity for career advancement is right now (which I doubt it is) then get on a plane and have the best 4 months of your life.
