We often use the alpha/beta distinction as shorthand. I think most reasonable posters here don't take those terms too literally or seriously, it's just a convenient generalization.

I think that I've come to the realization that the fundamental problem with beta/chode game (or lack thereof), is not that it fails to display alpha or high SMV characteristics per se, but rather that it attempts to build attraction without taking any risks. It's always indirect and always has some sort of plausible deniability where the girl can never really call you out on anything. At best, she doesn't take your advances seriously or doesn't even register them and the interaction is heading towards the friend zone. A lot of times, the girl knows whats up and just perceives it as a lack of confidence. Like, "this guy isn't really confident enough to go for what he wants. He has to play it safe and never put himself out there". Other times, it can just be creepy. Other times, it can be exhausting for her, since she can never really rebuff your (weak) advances, but has to constantly deal with this low grade, shitty, chode game energy. If she calls you out on it, then she runs the risk of being a "bitch", because hey, you weren't putting yourself out there so you can play dumb and claim "Hey, what? I didn't do anything! Bitch." So there is pressure for her to constantly keep the peace and be friendly, without leading you on. Super lame.
