Hobby building and telling?

I got a co-worker. Her boyfriend owns a sailboat. Pretty good hobby. She thought so. That was a selling point.

At first.

But he likes to sail whenever he has time. The first few times they "took the boat out" she had a good time. But after 3-4 weekends, how excited do you think she was?

If he was a club dj, she'd get tired of going to his gigs. She'd stop going, but possibly be jealous of the girls at the club who were impressed.

If he was into extreme sports, she'd cheer him on the first few times, but then she'd get over it. After a few injuries, she'd want him to stop.

Body building? She loves the muscles, but she doesn't like his workout schedule or his restricted diet. She'd want him to share a plate of French fries or sleep in.

Hunting and guns? Is she going to want to be in a deer blind on a cold morning?

A man makes a mistake choosing a hobby based on whether he thinks a woman will like it, whether they will be attracted.

The man's hobby should be about what he wants. When he is not at work, at school, what does he want to do? That should be his hobby.

As for using a hobby for conversation fodder, because you need something to talk about, most women are entirely content to talk about their favorite subject, themselves.

If you are passionate about something and you're at least somewhat attractive to that woman, she'll find it attractive too.

It is only a turn off when you make it seem like that. You have to be confident in what you like, and show it off that way. If you go in talking about what you like in a boring manner then it will show. There is nothing wrong with liking what you like. As far as more hobbies, check out Meetup. You can see the meetups in your area. You can also create your own meetup as well.

It's more attractive if it's something she will be able to participate in, even if only a little. The chef one might be you preparing a meal for her over a few drinks and discussing what you're doing (without sounding pretentious). I'm a PC builded and gamer - i can't see how this is going to come across attractive unless the girl is somewhat nerdy a little and she's after someone with the nerd in them - or she loves gaming too etc.
