Wow I have the exact opposite when I tell girls I’m a broke college student.

I started college after the military in my mid 20s.

This is all in your head man. They don’t give a fuck unless they consider you beta, then it matters very much because if your a beta you at least need money.

My rule is if it’s FWB you don’t have to tell them shit unless it’s a STD.

If it’s LTR, tell them after a few good dates and you’ve slept together. Just say “Hey, I’m going back to school for blah.” and thats it. If they ask why, tell them the reason and be brief — “I need this on my resume to advance my career” for example.

I left out student as maybe that’s what triggers it? Student does have a immature or inexperienced title ring around it. So it could just be that word.

It's only an issue because you're insecure about it.

You're assuming and insinuating things that they have not told you. You're projecting how poorly you think about yourself onto the girls, and that's probably undermining you're conversations.

It's not even about confidence, but acceptance. Confidence is being aware of your strengths. Acceptance, is loving yourself in-spite of your weaknesses. No one's perfect, we guys just have this belief that girls expect us to be.

Dont say your a student, say "I"m studying at university to do XYZ in the future". That shows action, drive and a planning on your part which is attractive. You made the decision to study the field that your in so expand on that during your conversations.

How far into your studies are you? "I'm actually completing my degree in (insert study). I was just working before and decided to go for something higher and become a (insert occupation)."

So in your post you have the backstory as to why you're 28 doing undergrad but what's the story moving into the future? Because I'm assuming the way you tell them you're a student is just as a straighforward response to a question. Simply "What do you do?" "I'm a student."

But if you respond to the same question with "Actually I'm a student right now. I started out cooking in a kitchen but then I decided to go to college to pursue..." and you proceed to tell a short story about your ambition.

Of course this only works if you have ambition. If you're just in college to tick a box then it'll likely be met with the same responses you're getting now. But seriously man, its an advantage that you have a seeming setback at the beginning of the story. Girls love that hero's journey shit.

You can milk that question really hard actually. You can run your whole game off of your responses to that question. When she first asks you can respond with a joke like saying you run a flea circus. Then the second time she asks you, you can make her work for it by saying, "Nah, you're gonna judge me." which makes her try to prove that she doesn't judge so you can run a mini qualification right there. Then you can do the hero's journey stuff. Playful teasing, qualification, emotional connection. Game over.
