When a girl is attracted to you she will make conversing very easy for you. Did you ask either of them where they were from? Did you use hooks in any of their stories? Did you ask "why?" if you did all of this and they were still unresponsive, then they weren't into you. This is what dates are for, it's a test drive for compatibility. Sometimes the test drive doesn't go well. You just saved yourself from wasting even more time.

That could be it or you guys just felt too much pressure and never put it on them. Remember, a conversation goes two ways. If it gets awkward, it could be because of you or it could be because of the girls. So maybe all you guys needed to do was just stop talking and just hold eye contact with them so that the awkwardness starts to build. At first they'll look at you like they're expecting you to pick things up but if you just smile and sit comfortably it will sink in on them that you guys don't plan on picking anything up so its their turn to carry the conversation. If you pull this off, congratulations. You just managed to get girls to worry about impressing you!
