How do I look approachable and appealing at a bar alone?

Thanks for this question man. I used to travel all the time for work, and often on short notice. This left me with a lot of opportunity to rock solo game. There were times when I'd seek out wingmen online. Either other travelers who just happened to be in the same area at the same time, or locals doing the solo thing (even on rare occasion groups looking to include a stranger wingman). But usually I found that approach was actually LESS effective then just going alone and making friends wherever I went. That's becuase (in my experience) this can turn into you being on a "blind date" with that person/group, instead of focusing on chicks.

I'm thinking about putting up a post on this, but I'd also recommend checking out this video by my man u/GET_IN_THE_VAN

The key part for me in this video is the "your night starts the moment you leave your house." For me it used to be "the night starts the moment you walk out of your hotel room."

This is absolutely crucial. You must start socializing immediately. If you don't, you'll start getting stuck in a silence trap. You'll get used to being quiet, and although you might still have success, the night will never be as amazing as it could have otherwise been.

When I used to do this, I was literally hitting on any woman in the elevator (provided they weren't obviously with a dude). I mean literally any woman. Grandma for fuck sake. It doesn't matter. Just start talking. If there are only dudes on the elevator. Make bro talk. Just start talking. Talk to your uber driver (primarily about women). Talk to anyone. ANYONE. Get into the zone. And when you walk into the bar, immediately start talking to people. Anyone. Walk into the bar like you fucking own the place and hold your hand out to the first person you see. Chat for 1 minute (about anything, it doesn't matter). Do this before you order your first drink. In fact make this a MUST: Talk to someone for one minute before ordering a drink. Then start talking to everyone. Bartenders. Bouncers. TALK TO EVERYONE WITHIN 2 BAR-STOOLS AWAY ON EITHER SIDE OF YOU, BEFORE THE FIRST DRINK ARRIVES.

At this point, you will be ready to party. And the most amazing thing you will find out...most of the other people there are ready to party too, they just need someone to kick it off, and they're too scared to do it themselves.

Last key i'll throw in. Never get attached or talk to one person too long (unless it happens to be the hot chick you're after). This is for the same reason as I mentioned at the beginning. Don't get involved in a "blind date" with some stranger. Get to know someone briefly, and then rope in someone else. Keep roping in more people.

Advanced technique: All the people you roped in (of which many will be single). Turn into their matchmaker, and start setting THEM, up with nearby women. I promise you will become the life of the fucking party so fast you won't even believe it :-) More on that later.

Make friends and strike up conversations with the people around you at the bar. People are there to socialize so this is to be expected.

Step 1: Walk in with a smile.

Step 2: Walk to the bar. Talk to the person on you right while you're ordering your drink.

Step 3: After a short period of time, talk to the person on your left.

Step 4: After a little while more, talk to someone else in proximity.

Dress well, have fun by yourself. It basically attracts people that are too stifled to have fun themselves.
