Look, there's a reason that the standard answer is to not DM someone like this.

Real interactions in person feature a TON of information. Body language, tone of voice, lots of non-verbal stuff, etc. And that's even without considering the actual words.

When you try to start things off over text, you're stripping all that away and forcing someone to make a decision about you, without actually knowing who you are and what you're about.

Plus, there are so many options out there for in-person interactions, so the fact you'd be trying to start something over text, could easily come off as desperate.

First of all, the best way to DM her by far is by sending her a message with a video of you and a bunch of people saying something to her. So maybe you can get some old high school friends together and go on a night out then tell them you should send a bunch of messages to people you went to high school with then start videoing.

But, I've been playing around with open loops to cold message girls and the results have been good so far. So if you know something about her say something like "Now I know" or "That explains it" or anything similar in reference to what you know about her so that she gets so curious that she messages you back.

The key is to have her wonder so don't be extremely specific like saying "now I understand why you joined the cheer squad senior year" be more like, "Now I understand that thing you did senior year"
