Hey so,
I'm home from school over Christmas break and my sister's (17 y/o) been a total bitch. She's the only daughter and so she gets the princess treatment from my parents. I'm the nerdier older brother or whatever and so I'm evidently not worth anything to her. Every fucking thing I do is screeched at from across the house. I take showers too long. I shouldn't be wearing my shoes in the house. I shouldn't be on "her" computer all day. I shouldn't be driving our parents' car to get the fuck away from her for any afternoon, but I shouldn't be near here at all. It would be fine if she ever said something nice or friendly.
So finally, today, she's sitting in the living room watching TV and I literally walk in the room to watch from a different sofa altogether. "Get away from me." This isn't an inside-joke between us. It's learned bitchiness from Kardashians or whoever the else she's spends the majority of her time watching.
So, I snapped. I talked to her about how much of a bitch she was, about how she'll be attending a college that costs an exuberant amount of money from my parents for no reason, how she dresses like a floozie (I did use the "sl-" word which will certainly catch hell from my parents when they hear about it from her). She was visibly upset and of course retorted with how much of a loser I was, how she has more friends, how I was just jealous etc. Honestly, by the end of it, I was saying things that weren't true (but some things were!) just to get a rise out of her.
I ended up letting her get the last word (something about how she thinks I'm the lowest type of person and she's never threatened by me or whatever).
So, what do I do? I like visiting with my parents and the rest of the family and my two brothers. I don't really want to go back to my college town just yet even though in my mind this is making a strong case for it. My parents will take my side to an extent--they don't think it's fair for her to keep being unnecessarily bitchy, but inevitably they won't get rid of her and will be more about peacekeeping in the here-and-now than changing her behavior in the long-term.
Her college is in the same town as my university, and my parents are expecting me to keep an eye on her next year. I hate it, but she is my sister so I guess I have to put up with her shit?
What would you do? What's the "red pill" thing to do?
