How to stop being a emotional tampon: you are one when yoh listen her problems without caring at all just willing to have a chance with her. So, if you dont want to listen, dont listen. Also, if you have intentions, show them.

And, if she is with a guy who dont treats her well, sadly its her choice and she will need to deal with it.

If she’s part of your group of friends, start giving her bad advice. Or say “Break up with him, I don’t want to hear about it otherwise.” And then if she doesn’t, stop responding.
If you won’t see her again, then straight up ask her out on a date. If she says no, then say “see ya.” If she says yes, take her out (not super nice dinner or anything) but be ready to leave her right at the bar if she so much as brings him up.

Those are good ways to earn respect.

Just think about how frustrating it is for her to keep staying with the guy. Kinda use that frustration by saying stuff like “Well, you’re going to find someone else to vent to because I’m not your relationship counselor.”
