Wingman App

I don't know of any but if nothing like this exists I think it would be awesome if someone created it. I would definitely use it. When I travel for work to cities where I don't know anyone I'd love to find a wingman. Same goes for solo travel.

I imagine an app where the user inputs a general location and time, and people can navigate to a page where they can see others who have input similar parameters and can message one another to talk about where and when to exactly meet up. Then when they do, they use the app to confirm they’ve met up, so afterwords they can rate each other on their experience and the app can be assured that the users did in fact participate in their plans. Users could even have a profile page where you can leave comments. Personally, If I were designing the app, I would only allow positive comments to be left on a user’s profile page so the app didn’t become a shame-machine or something just as ugly. In that way, the absence of positive comments on your page would equate to a negative rating, only without the actual negative association with your name. You could also build a “location rating” feature in the app where people can rate/comment on the physical particular venue where they met, and how positive/negative the venue was. The location-rating feature would be super useful, paired with profile pages (with short descriptions about who you are), and the ability to share experiences with other users on the app.

Just a few thoughts.. an app like this would definitely be useful. I work a late shift, and a weird rotating schedule that has me working weekends sometimes. Having an app I can turn to on the odd night when I want to go out would be awesome.

Love the idea. When I saw the title I thought an app THAT is your wing man. Something like with a target (open X set in the next hour) with a big countdown. Some motivationnal sentences. Some social commitment. Share you progress. Things like that
