She's just as afraid of rejection as you are, and it's a lot easier to read signs (that she has little to no practice using IRL) in text.

She's either shy, or she just likes the attention. Either way you have nothing to lose by asking her out on a date. Just approach her after class, joke around and tease her for being boring in person yet so extraverted on instagram, then ask her out on a real date. You'll get your answer.

Common trend in young people is to be awkward IRL but make up for that on text because it’s low risk. When you make a mistake on text you can just close the app but IRL you have to deal with more consequences. Dw pretty sure it’s normal based on how many times I’ve read/seen this happen.

Put yourself in her shoes and mentally picture yourself type some of the things she does. How does it make you feel when you (imaginarily) type them. This should give you an good indication on how she feels.

Btw The social hierarchy in high school is not real. Perceived value of importance is not the same as actual importance. If you like and trust and respect your friends then they way cooler than any group that is “perceived” higher status than you.
