In college, at the bar with friends I find it difficult to approach a random girl because I'd have to just walk away from my friends and shoot my shot.

Also what type of indications do you look for? I'll make brief eye contact with some girls but usually I break it pretty quickly even if they dont so I really don't know if it was just an accident and to not bother or what
