Hi everybody, I know this is a bit of an odd question for this sub, but I think you guys might have some interesting feedback.

Okay. I'm originally from suburban New England. In high school I was a nightmare for teachers, quite frankly because I refused to listen to them, yet I still graduated with Honors and a 1980 SAT. I'm very self-motivated. In junior year I started working out, lost 50 pounds, I began reading etc. I've always functioned well when I'm able to just do whatever I want. I don't need or want other people around to get my work done, and I sure as fuck don't want "bosses" as teachers.

I was dating a girl in senior year, oneitis really fucking hard. We had completely different college lists except for this one art school in Chicago. To be fair, I really liked it ASIDE from her going. I'm a standup comic (who was doing comedy since junior year in high school) and this school offered a Comedy Degree (only one in the country). More or less i decided because of the degree name, Chicago's reputation for comedy, and my girlfriend.

Well we broke up, I get here and find out that it's worse than high school. I fucking hate it. The teachers are boring, uninspiring... in theater class we meditate for an hour of every 4 hour class. I like meditating, but I can do that for free in my room. There's one teacher I really like and he's my playwriting teacher... but I've taken both of his classes, and my favorite part was just writing on my own, not dealing with classmates.

The school is $40,000 a year. I have scholarships and loans... but still. If I stay I will be $80K in debt. I do not like the education. Chicago is NOT for me. Call me a pussy, but it's too cold, and I miss being in nature. I still want to do comedy, but I've resigned to the fact it'll take years to even get good, no matter where I am... so I might as well go back to where my connections are in New England and try to break into NYC.

I have a job lined up as a camp counselor for back home, then I figure I can try the Tim Ferris 4-hour-workweek "Muse" as self-automated income to start paying off the one year of loans I have.

College is not intellectually stimulating, my friends are cool but they also are leaving next year, I hate my dorm building, I feel trapped in the city, and the thought of four more years of this is depressing as fuck. I just want to jump off the standup cliff. If I'm gonna be broke and desperate working for comedy AFTER my degree, I might as well do it now before I'm indebted to the government for all I'm worth.

This school does not offer any degrees other than art degrees. I do not want to transfer to another school. I'm self-motivated enough to learn on my own. MAYBE I'll get a degree online. And if you're wondering, that chick dumped me like a week after we graduated.

Okay guys, is dropping out a mistake?
