I see a lot of people posting about things they can read and what they can do to get better at picking up women. The problem with learning all of this information prior to actually trying to talk to girls yourself is that there is no amount of information your brain can absorb which will prepare you for the unfamiliarity you feel when you are in the actual situation.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of the material that teaches in the art of the pickup is very informative and I myself actually read it, despite already having familiarity and confidence in talking to girls. Why? Because once you begin to develop familiarity and you are past the initial fear of the approach, you can use this information as supplemental knowledge that will help you more situationally. You'd be surprised how often I've watched videos of some pickup attempt and sub-consciously managed to utilize it effectively in specific situations.

Think about it like this: Everyone was a virgin at one point (or maybe you still are, there is no problem with that). I am sure like most men who might have been overly anxious about it you went to seek resources to teach you what its like and how to do it. Or maybe you just watched porn and just hoped to be able to replicate it. Who knows. Never the less, when you actually arrived at the situation, you might have tried to do some of the stuff you learned but probably did almost none of it effectively. And thats because of your unfamiliarity of even being in the situation to begin with.

So my advice to everyone is to develop that sense of familiarity and explore the familiarity. Becoming comfortable in the situation is the most important part of the pickup. Once you get to that point you can start analyzing the learning material and actually absorb it with real world experience as context.
