Apologies if it’s a stupid basic question but, what should I read and/or do to have ‘something’ to talk about and be able to relate via face-to-face communication?

I have been called ‘boring and stupid’ by my last ex. I am anything but that. When I look back, it’s because my interests are not mainstream, current, and not in line with what she likes talking about. Also, I tried to go on a date with a girl but I felt that I couldn’t contribute much to the conversation. So, maybe I am truly boring and stupid 😅

What is a realistic way to avoid being boring and, dare I say, stupid when conversing with women? It’s a balancing act of being ‘polite and nice’ and ‘honest and an asshole’. I feel that too much of either one is bad.

Anyone got podcasts, books or any resources to help me out with this problem?
