When I first met her, I asked her out. Botched it. Had her on a pedestal so high I couldn't even flirt. She said we should be friends, I said cool with me, and we've been good friends for about a year now. Problem is a common one, I'm still attracted to her. And by the way, I'm much more comfortable around her now. I'm a much more confident, self assured guy who genuinely enjoys life, and it's obvious. I was a depressed boring dude when I first went out with her. Still fun enough for her to say on the first date that she felt comfortable around me, but I only acted like a friend, so I know I only have myself to blame for being in the friend zone.

I want to accept that it's not happening. I want to move on. I want to stop pining after her this way. It stinks cause I know I'd do better if I had a chance now, and I bet she'd say yes to one date if I asked. I know her well enough to do a good job and actually flirt and escalate. But it's not healthy for me to think that way, I know I should be moving on.

Normally, college keeps me busy and social enough to ignore or forget about my feelings, meet other girls, but I'm in between semesters right now, in a different state, with nothing to do for a week, and I don't know how to deal with it mentally without being a loser. I'm this close to telling her I can't be friends with her anymore, which sucks because she's a great friend.

How can I find peace with this situation?
