There’s no rule against texting first, I say don’t wait too long and risk her forgetting you, text her soon and organize a date. The more time you spend with her in person, the more chances you have with her.

1) have a strong interaction in person and texting won’t be an issue

2) during the initial interaction layout a plan to go do something (hence a reason to get the number). People who get numbers just to have them in a contact list typically don’t do anything with the person since it wasn’t established that you were getting the number for that reason.

3) as someone else said, social media’s can be a better option too
