Your thoughts on the Art of seduction by Robert Greene?

Useful as theory, not really useful as applicable advice. Not to say that none of it can be applied directly, just that it's not really a dating book, more of a social engineering/human nature type book.

It's got some real good stuff in there, stuff worth thinking about, such as seductive archetypes, how everyone has an unmet need, and you can categorize people that way, and common tropes and devices of seduction.

But it has to be placed in the context of your experiences and your situation. That's the nature of high-level theory, it's widely applicable but actually applying it is easier said than done and often requires both wisdom and experience to see how and when the theory applies to the reality.

I'm a big fan of Robert Greene and think almost all his books should be on the reading list. That being said, I find Art Of Seduction is more useful for inspiration and reflecting on experiences, rather than as a direct learning tool.

If you want a book to teach you proper fundamentals, pick up Models.

You are approaching this whole thing with the wrong mindset.

No book is going to teach you how to get girls. It's up to you to learn. Books are just people's opinions and what has worked for them, but at the end of the day you need to figure out what works for you. If you rely on this or that book you will always fail.

You need to just try shit in the field and see what happens.

you can't really put it to practice. but there are things you can put to use, such as acting accordingly for someones needs.

lets say you meet a girl who really works hard, always busy etc.. she definetely needs fun. and the one who would serve it to her would win the prize.

you could take some tactics from it and use it for modern life. the book is more for politicians

Contrary to the others, I do feel this book is excellent. You'll just have to apply the information in your own way. The book consists of many aspects which aren't that simple and might seem useless if you have got no experience with seduction in real life, but believe me, reading it after some experiences in seduction is gonna really make, you feel connected with the author in some level.

So basically integrate his tips into your own personalised techniques and Strategies. Reading it is a joy in itself ofcourse, so you can even do it for the fun of it.

I think art of seduction is more of a “social theory” book more than it is a “okay, here are the ten steps you need to do to get success” book. The book is densely packed with information and it’s incredible how many times I’ve revisited a chapter and discovered something that didn’t “render” with me before.

Its a great book in my opinion. As long as you don’t mind the amoral, manipulative, and Machiavellian techniques that Robert Greene discusses in the book then it can be very interesting.

Overall though, this book is definitely geared towards those “long haul” seductions. The book emphasizes the practice of patience and calculation with your preferred “target” of seduction. I wouldn’t say this is gonna help you if you’re trying to learn modern pick up artistry skills where you cold approach and attempt to seduce the person right-then-and-there, it’s geared towards a more long-term approach.

Overall, in my experience this book has opened my eyes to an entirely new way of looking at seduction. The Art of Seduction really has its theories rooted in human psychology and what REALLY makes us tick. Greene proposes in the introduction that we WANT to be seduced- we are almost BEGGING to be distracted from the dull routine of everyday life, and that we crave seduction even if it’s painful.

Overall, this book isn’t a scientifically-validated technique proven to work, it’s more of a raw perspective on the social ritual that is seduction.

Ps: I’ve used the techniques and strategies in this book to get my way in social situations. It’s a great book imo.

I read the entire book. Interesting as literature but useless for learning game.

The guy isn't a PUA, he apparently never seduced anyone except his current wife, and he only knows about Casanova and Errol Flynn from old sources, mostly 2nd hand.

None of those historical seducers were "good with women", in the sense that you want to be. Casanova was a scumbag who lied to vulnerable girls to seduce them. Or as in this case:

"In 1765, when he was 40, he purchased a 12-year-old girl in St. Petersburg as a sexual slave."

Some seducer. Great game!

Errol Flynn was an alcoholic with bad breath who banged teenage groupies And so on.

Books by actual PUA coaches have 100 times better advice that is far more applicable. Search this reddit for book recommendations ... you will find lots of good ones. And most of the authors you can check out on youtube to see if they're legit or creepy.

I have read it. Excellent. No way to put his advice in practice. It is awsome for compete you theory on seduction.
