When you're 18 your dating pool is very limited on tinder. Also there are waaaaay more guys than girls on tinder. It's really hard to stand out these days. Even if you're a good looking guy I wouldn't waste time on it.

I’d say it’s easy to stand out, there’s a lot of guys but there’s a lot of trash. I’m decent looking I’ll give myself that but I’m nowhere near a 10. For reference in about week, the effect of the tinder boost I got around 75 likes and about 16 matches, same amount of matches on bumble too.

Yup as a guy who is also close to a 10 it sucks. I remember the days of having 200+ women to pick from on tinder and using it like just eat for pussy. Now they drip feed you matches unless you pay.
Hinge is good for good looking guys though. You still have to pay but its possible to rack up numbers like the good old days
[–]hardlander 6 years ago* [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link
A decent looking girl will normally get more matches than that in just a day. And getting the matches is just the first obstacle. She's not going to talk to every single guy she gets matched with so you pretty much have to prove her that you're worth her time. It's a constant battle between you and the other guys to keep her attention.
[–]kingBdot_ 6 years ago [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link
That’s true, with the matches tho a lot are uninteresting messages. While the one I provided usually makes them reply with something they love, giving u something to talk about. Once u start talking about something they like they’ll reply
And if they don’t boohoo, onto the next. I get what you’re trying to say, I wouldn’t rely on tinder to get a girl but it is a nice thing to have and use casually

So what is the first thing you say then? And idk man, do what you want but I'd say go in it with the lowest possible expectations because you're going to be disappointed a lot.
[–]kingBdot_2 points 6 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link
Yeah def have low expectations
In the post i said what my first text was. I’d get a reply like hi [name] I’m [name], I also have no criminal record, no kids and strong love for nandos’
Then I I’ll be like ‘wow I love nandos’ (I really do). Then we talk about nandos for like 3 messages and I’ll say I gtg here’s my number text me and we can arrange a nandos date

Yep. Agreed.

No point going on tinder now the ratio of men to women is ridiculous, it's had its heyday.

Pretty smart, good strategy ;)

This! Don't rely on online gaming, it's not charming, not personal and you will never be able to truly convey your personality which is what shall attracts them. For most girls Tinder and similar apps is just mining for validation. Meeting girls in real life is a bigger learning curve but once you learn in you will be light years ahead of most guys. Also it really never feels as a sucess to go from a Tinder match to a date, it feels empty, not a great store to share either.

Man this shit is so fake. I know you're just playing the game OP, but are people blind to how fake and shallow this shit is?
[–]kingBdot_ 6 years ago [recovered] (14 children) | Copy Link
Sorry, why is this shallow
[–]GrandMasterB19 -5 points-4 points-3 points 6 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
What part of it is real and authentic? The scripted lines? The cropped photos? You said you pretty much just sit at home, but the purpose of the photos is to create the illusion that you live a diverse and exciting life. I'm not bashing you OP, I'm bashing dating apps in general. I don't understand how people don't realize how fake this whole process is. And how shallow it is because it's based solely on creating a contrived image.

This is a silly response. Tinder is going to be a fail for most men so skew the odds in your favor and present your best self. Don’t lie or use fake pictures, but this is all about selling. You think Rolex takes average pictures and shows them in its advertising because it wants to be honest and show how its watches look IRL. No they don’t - they pay for the best photographers and editing possible. You have to create a brand, and have that be something women want to buy into if you are using apps.
The studies are out there supporting this. An “average” woman on tinder finds 80% of male profiles unattractive. Basically if you are in the top 5% of men on Tinder then it’s like shooting fish in a barrel. If you are out of the top 20%, times are tough. You have to do whatever you can (while being honest) to stand out!
[–]GrandMasterB19 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
You aren't telling me anything I don't already know. I'll rant about how fake Rolex is too if it's warranted. I work in media. I see this shit every day and it gets old, so you'll have to excuse my silliness but I get sick of how fake, contrived, and inauthentic everything has become.

That I can actually agree with. Instagram, Facebook, etc. it’s all #fakenews, presenting the best side of peoples lives at all times. Creating envy, jealousy, depression, anxiety. I 100% agree.
My argument is: you can either acknowledge the system is awful, and do the best you can to use it to your advantage, or just say the system is terrible and therefore I’m not going to be a part of the system. All depends on your own ethics and morals - but I guess for me, I like meeting cute girls, so I play the system!
[–]GrandMasterB19 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I don't think people even realize just how fake and contrived it all really is, but it's crazy when you realize how much time and energy people will waste of their lifetime following these things. People would rather consume all this content rather than connect with their families, community, connecting with hobbies, etcetera. I've tried to ditch the system but it's lonely. I spoke to a wise man that instead urged me to find a way to make the system work for me within my own parameters, but to never forget about what I know either so I don't get wrapped up in it like the others. I thought that was pretty solid.

We’re living in The Matrix, my friend. Got to figure out how to Neo the crap out of it.
[–]GrandMasterB19 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The hard part is finding all the other Neos of the world. This would be the golden ticket for achieving these deeper friendships and relationships based on authenticity.
[–]kingBdot_ 6 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I get what u mean. A profile is a pretty big facade. The photos are cropped bc they’re group photos and I wanna be the centre so they know who I am. And the pics do paint a pic of my personality. I was just trying to convey away of saying don’t make the pics make u look boring. I wouldn’t say it’s a lie, just more exaggerated. The same way people insta is, you want pics of I doing cool stuff while looking good not pics of u at home in the same sweats and hoodie 5 times in a row
And the first line is the only scripted one, just bc I feel like a good opener is a way to get noticed after it’s all personal.
Again I agree with u dating apps are shallow, but they can be fun and another way to meet people u wouldn’t normally run into.
[–]GrandMasterB19 -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I just hate that it has to be so shallow. Most of the photos I see of girls on these apps, it's so obvious to me that they're posing for a photo opp. It's so obvious that they're trying to show off the best parts of their body. It's so obvious that they're trying to make it look like they live some wild and crazy life that they probably don't and it really turns me off.
You can't reduce an entire person into a couple of photos and a one sentence bio. People have confidence, vibes, energy, personalites, beliefs, body language, smells, etcetera. I want to meet more women too but these apps are a big part of what's making everyone so fake and shallow and image focused these days.
[–]kingBdot_ 6 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link
100% but when your on a dating app u wanna show off all the good parts about your life. When I use them I try to land a date right away, I don’t wanna waste my time talking to someone and it going no where. Meeting girls irl is a million times better but it is what it is
[–]GrandMasterB19 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Word. I keep getting downvoted so this stuff must be getting under people's skin. So what do you have better results with, real life or online?
[–]kingBdot_ 6 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link
I’m kinda new to dating, was in a 2 year relationship. I find myself more confident online but connect better irl.
And ngl your original reply was kinda rude but after explaining yourself u seem alright lmao
[–]GrandMasterB19 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I find online to be pretty brutal because people just straight up ignore you or quit talking and don't even specify why. Atleast it real life you build up confidence and resilience by taking risks, and you can usually learn from your mistakes based on the girl's reactions.
It was never meant to be rude. That's why I said "I know you're just playing the game OP." Cause it's not personal. It's just the way these platforms work. And everyone knows it but nobody else will say it. Things don't have to be this way, but they are this way because everyone is just following along.
