I'm 28, she's 20, we have an LTR for ~6 months. We have a good Capitain - First Mate dynamic going. I'm making decisions, leading, asking her opinion when required, she enjoys being led. She's very feminine, caring, reasonably submissive, quite traditional (in other words, a lot of green flags, hardly any red flags). Basically, we were in a fucking utopa, a lot of fun and pleasure from this relationship for both of us.

And then this happened.

She went back to her home town for a month. I visited her two weeks after she departed. Stayed at her house, met her parents (very traditional family, religious, they didn't let us sleep in the same room, or have her sit on my lap when we were driving somewhere, they have a nice 15 y.o. son, good mood overall in the family). We went to an hotel every day to have sex, and on the second day after two hours of fucking and laying on the bed, when I was about to pick up a condom and put it into bin, it broke apart in my hand. I was absolutely sure it was fine when I removed it from my penis (as I always tie them into a knot) but the way it just popped in two meant it may theoretically have been compromised while I was still inside her.

I told her to stay calm, explained the situation to her (that the chance she'll get pregnant is really very slim, that we should just take every precaution possible and it will be all right), and told her that she should wash it down there thoroughly with water mixed with lemon juice (I dunno how this procedure is called in english, couldn't find a translation, google suggests "syringing") (this was the best we could do since she's against talking emergency contraception pills).

She was just destroyed. Shaking, hardly could speak. It is naturally a huge shock to her. She didn't want babies yet, and if her parents would find out that we're as much as having sex they'd be very angry and very disappointed with her, not to mention if they find out she has accidentally got pregnant outside proper marriage. Obviously she was overcome with sadness, became devastated, basically a walking zombie. I just can't find proper words because, well, it was that bad. This to her is like the worst that could happen. It felt like we found out she or I are diagnosed with terminal cancer or whatever.

I tried to offer her all I could think of - long silent hugs, affirmations that I'm not going to run away, that we're in this together, that I'll be there with her to announce to her father what happened and take my part of responsibility in case she does get pregnant, that even if she does end up pregnant it's not the end of the world (she knows that I have enough finances and a place to live in, so we won't be in any trouble if we would have to raise a child). Obviously, she was very grateful but it didn't help much. I had to depart the following day in the early morning. We spent all time hugging and discussing random small stuff. She walked me to the railway station and I right before departing told her how much I care about her and how much she means to me. We then had a small skype chat when I arrived at that day's evening at my place.

Now, it's about a week until she gets back here, same week until her next menses should start, judging on her past 6 months of history, or 9 days until standart 28 days elapse. Her getting delay regardless of pregnancy is very likely due to the stress that she is in now (and travelling, and emotions associated with meeting old friends and so on). You can only make a test for pregnancy several days after a delay, so in the worst but likely case scenario it's going to be about 10 or so days of absolute living nightmare for her until she can finally get a reliable answer. I'm sitting here back at home and I'm at a loss. I don't know what can I really do to help her. I think I should do something, but I can't come up with anything and it's kinda driving me mad (it seems that after 28 years of sociopathy, I'm finally feeling compassion for the first time in my life, and it's not pretty). She's also the kind of person that locks up when in a negative mood, because she thinks if she tries to seek outside help or vent to someone she'll share her negativity, and thus do something bad, and thus she should contain her negativity to herself.

I know I can always stand by and wait for her to contact me if she needs to talk, but I feel like she won't. At the same time, I feel like if I start nagging her with calls, it will be annoying and won't help one bit (especially since we hardly ever chat on the phone, I kept the "phone to set up dates only" frame most of our relationship and she seemed to be perfectly fine with that). I don't know what I can say that would comfort her, because really, there is no solution - there is just a painful wait for an answer, and nothing else matters right now. Before in our relationship I was able to solve all problems, as I should have as a Capitain, and it was awesome. Now I feel helpless, I can't solve this problem and I feel like I failed at my role, even though I obviously did nothing wrong (and obviously she isn't blaming me for what happened).

What can I do?
