I’m not going to come back and edit, so apologies in advance; on the phone app….

I (48m) am at the 3 month mark of “Living together while separated”. I was a complete wreck when stbxw (39f)hit me with the “I’m not in love with you anymore” and the first 2 months were a hellish dark cloud, and I still have moments where I get flooded with memories and hurt.

We have established some solid boundaries, we get along, we’re preparing for an equal divide of marital assets, 50/50 custody with a combined joint decision making. The divorce will be uncontested. I’ll say, our situation and how amicable and cordial everything has been, made it hard in the beginning, but after my acceptance of everything it is quickly making things much smoother .

This 3rd month has been a huge turnaround in my state of mind, I’ve been exercising, made my first big financial decision (since being married) on my own, planning my own things to do!

I’d forgotten how much I loved riding motorcycles, so I bought one! And I had to plead with nobody, and goddamn that felt good!

I guess my point is, anyone just finding this page, and are in the early stages of a split, it’s gets so much better! It really does.

I had to go out of my comfort zone and sit with and recognize my part in the breakup and that wasn’t easy, I and my actions played a huge role, and I had to own that, look my daughters in the eye know that if had I done better, maybe they’d still have an unbroken family, and that fucking hits hard. Add in a healthy dose of deep conversations with the stbxw, it’s sad that we are communicating better now than we ever did in 15 yrs. But it is, what it is and I cannot undo any of it.

The feelings of shame and guilt are being replaced with excitement, hope, and optimism! A renewed sense of freedom!

I pop in here less and less, but wanted to leave a thank you to the page, this place has been a crutch I relied heavily on!

Cheers!

For a chuckle, look up “There once was a prince”
