I don’t know what happened in slide 2- it gets cut off… I did press that last post from her… but it came up with the option to “show all replies including those that may include sensitive content” underneath it, ad then when I pressed show, nothing came up… must have been a really fucked up take.
Feminism (in its true guise of wanting equality for both men and women) should be for everyone- it’s been hijacked by so many misandrists- there’s no 1 gender that’s superior to the other- the world isn’t man v woman- we’re on the same team. Misogyny and misandry are disgusting.
And yes, the prefix Fem exists for a reason, which is the fact that feminism as a movement was coined in an era where women were treated as lesser human beings based on their sex and the movement was designed for them to have equal rights and opportunities as men… we’ve made a lot of progress since then, but true feminism should include everyone and would be egalitarian at its core anyway.
Then slide 3- “male children grow up to be oppressors”- I think she’s spent too much time on r/FemaleAntiNatalism.
Slide 4- she thinks fathers should only look after their children if mothers supervise them… but then at the same time if those fathers did do that she’d probably say “why do you need mommy to examine your every move”.
Slide 5- she says black lives don’t matter and that George Floyd deserved to die.
Slide 6- somebody points out that men are 50% of the population and that their welbeing impacts women too (because we’re on the same team and should sympathize with each other)
Slide 7 (sorry it cut off almost- she’s replying to the comment at bottom of slide 6)- “most men aren’t mentally stable and it’s great that they’re committing suicide in large numbers; and then in the other conversation it’s “men made this mess for themselves- why do we have to help them?”… who is “men” first of all? And that whole “it’s not women’s job” thing- I thought there was no such things as a man’s job or woman’s job? It’s society’s job as a whole to help each other- human beings should help each other out when there’s an issue- doesn’t matter what your gender is.
Slide 8- “Mommy isn’t coming to make your bed anymore- don’t you feel so embarrassed admitting you’re so incapable you need women to fix your problems”… because Brandon is personally responsible for systemic issues affecting men and created them himself… there are women like me who are perfectly happy to help men out; there are men like those in my other sub who are perfectly happy to be allies to women and address sexism and systemic issues/expectations placed on them.
Slide 9- “white female rape victims are very privileged”… I do agree that white women are very privileged, but I wouldn’t call being a rape victim a privilege in any circumstances. An interesting point does get raised though- How does she feel about women who rape other women? Her “man= evil; women= victim” mindset is so closed minded. And one guy brings up a point about how it was a black woman police officer who gave the order to tear gas this guy and several children… I appreciate him not using this to generalize black people or women as collectives either.
Slide 10- he mentions that he wishes he’d died that night- poor guy.
Slide 11- top comment- “women who believe in equality should become egalitarian”- I partially agree. I’m an egalitarian, I choose not to align myself with the feminist label because of the mass misandry that’s tainted it, but I don’t think everyone using the label feminist is bad either- there are egalitarian feminists out there and in an ideal world, feminism and egalitarian would be mere synonyms, but I don’t think that’s the case for the modern world.
Slide 12- “men could just start their own movement”- they did, these radfems weren’t thrilled with that either though. I agree that a bit like feminism, there’s also dangerous rabbitholes to go down in that movement too, but simply advocating for men or for women isn’t inherently bad- we’re on the same team.
And to top it all off, some casual Islamophobia on slide 13, and some casual homophobia on slide 14.
