I guess I'm both. I understand, but this doesn't mean I agree or approve. So I'm probably the reason.

I understand what pushes them to say it, but I disagree with the choice to act it out. The comparison is flawed, and the statement isn't even genuine. It looks like a sort of emotional gambit, like a child saying 'I hate you!' to their parents without meaning it, rather desiring to get some attention and compassion. We can talk about the problem, I can give attention, and I can give compassion. But don't expect me to play a pretend game and act all concerned, like I'm taking the bear thing literally and seriously. That would be insulting to my intelligence; the posters' intelligence too.

If you ask them, they are going to insist it's not a call for attention or compassion but a literal statement. If you keep pressing that angle, you know, big grizzly bear, etc., you're going to find out it was supposed to mean a plump herbivore, just eating his berries in a forest, while being well-fed, happy with life and generally stable, and they guess they would prefer that company to a man's, maybe, so you wouldn't call the comparison a lie. Can't have it both ways. Can't use a bombastic statement for oompth and attention and reduce the scope to a narrow fraction and take it down a few notched on the scale of emphasis when defending its validity. Can't have a cake and eat it too.

And then there's the fad of adding, 'at least the bear would lose interest after you died,' and I don't really want to comment on that, other than suggesting that if there is a mental-health emergency/epidemic, then perhaps the health authorities should intervene. Imagining all men as necrophiliac is pretty serious, and thinking that a carnivore bear would skip a meal is already somewhat serious too, I guess. It looks like massive amounts of people need therapy (meaning the likers and sharers in addition to the posters).

If you'd rather jump into a small enclosure with a hungry grizzly bear because you don't like me pointing out problems with your sexist communication, then I hope you don't do that, but the thought's on you, not on me — if you even genuinely think that (as opposed to pretending for drama), which I doubt.

And people saying that's not sexist or that the sexism is acceptable. Eh.

The "men who are the reason women choose the bear" aren't listening to these women, and aren't going to change their behavior to appease them.

If anything, given that it's all about power, these men are enjoying watching women profess their fear of them.

The other men aren't the problem, and don't need to do anything because we're living life just fine, free from irrational fears.

The worst thing at this narrative is that it’s completely fake. Not only none of those women would actually choose a bear, but most of them aren’t that afraid of men at all. They date them, spend time alone with them, ask them for favors, and demand them to be their allies. The comparison with a wild animal has no leg to stand on.

I wish they got what they want. Not meeting a bear, just so they don’t have to suffer the male companionship and attention they ostensibly fear so much. I’d like no man being interested in dating them, being their friend, or even have a friendly chat with them. Let them isolate themselves from the half of humanity in vain hope that the other half wouldn’t ever hurt them.

Sadly, this won’t happen: more than enough men will treat it as an opportunity to prove they’re not like the other boys.

The bear meme is also misogynistic bc it tells women they would rather choose the bear which is almost related to suicide of being killed by a bear or being mauled and it's an insult to SA survivors and abuse victims. If you wanna support women's rights stop making a bear vs man memes already. I'm tired of this meme the same with Boys vs Girls memes. I understand the fear that other women faced from men but the bear isn't better since it's an animal who hunts prey and not a human being who knows right and wrong.

Feminists ( maybe most women) will use any opportunity to demean men. if an opportunity does not present itself they will create one. Over that looks like they are incapable of connecting cause with effect. I personally wish every woman that answers bear at least feels the absurdity and stupidity of her idea.

I can understand why you've said man, but I think it's a moronic statement, that paints a whole group as dangerous, due to the actions of a few.

If you said this about any other group, you'd be called a racist/sexist etc.
