Like many of the husbands here, I’ve had an emotional rollercoaster of a divorce. We have reached the end of the marriage but still need to deal with each other to some extent. We have a child that college age. We’ve been separated for about a year. The kid is with me, she’s with someone “new”. The kid and I couldn’t be happier. We both have done a lot of mental health work and are relating to each other really well. My kid is the reason I stayed as long as it’s been. The struggle was worth it to me…. We both got out.

The process of divorce was a struggle because, yup you guessed it, the X made it that way. To add, even with the limited contact we need to have with her, she always tries to make the situation frustrating. I was the one that kick started the divorce process. Of course she tried to nag me about it, wanting updates. I could’ve cared less. If she wanted it to be quick and smooth it would have been that way. Eventually, she saw no fruits of.. well, whatever she thought she was going to accomplish and let the situation rest.

I did my due diligence fellas. I received the final divorce papers a few months ago. I haven’t told her. AM I THE ASSHOLE FOR NOT LETTING HER KNOW? I’m sure she’s waiting for the name change and freedom to marry that poor chap (i see all the smoke and mirrors and he’s blinder than I was). I just don’t feel inclined to lift a mosquito’s leg to do anything just to make things easier for her. The jig would definitely be up come tax time. In the meantime, she tries to soak us, with EVERY opportunity, in gasoline. We both roll our eyes and resolve not to give her supply.

I’d love to hear what you all think, especially those who are on the other side of, or close to, the divorce mountain.
