"Women and children". Womens lives are valued more than men's lives by Wikipedia and the UN. Why should the life of an 18 year old manatter less than his own mother or grandmother who have already lived out their lives. What about a single father's life? What about a father vs childless woman?

The terminology is outdated. I get that men are more likely to be combatants, and that some women are pregnant with another life, but the "women and children" terminology fails to take into account woman combatants, men who are the primary caretakers of their young children, etc., and just generally portrays the lives of men as less morally important. It also infantilizes women, though personally I'd rather be infantilized in this situation than have the value of my life itself questioned (coming from a woman).
