Not only is single sex conscription discrimination, but conscription itself is incompatible with free society. THe ultimate insult is that the rich can always find ways to get out of it.

What's the difference? Men are already legally obligated to register for selective service. It's not voluntary. Might as well cut out the paperwork and make registration automatic.

I'm not advocating for the draft or anything. This just doesn't feel like that big of a deal.

To any young men concerned about the draft, keep in mind that the military does not want to draft you.

Not that it makes the sexism of the draft okay, but you should know that the department of defense will do everything they can to not invoke the draft. Not explicitly for moral reasons, but they don't want draftees.

They'll do everything they can to avoid relying on draftees.

I'll be the 2nd person to criticize this post. Will I also be downvoted? This time, just give a good reason. Yeah, we agree this is un-equal. But, this doesn't really change the situation. It's just a small part of the bill that saves tax dollars and prevents men from breaking this law.

Also, in reading the article, it said Rep. Chrissy Houlahan spearheaded a House bill in 2021 to require women to register with the Selective Service, effectively doubling the draft pool.

Repost. Also what’s the issue, it already happens automatically in some states and why would you want somebody to accidentally commit a felony if they didn’t realize they had to register? Don’t say something stupid like the draft is unconstitutional, or it’s not fair because women don’t have to do it. Those are completely separate issues that have nothing to do with saving people some paperwork.
