I went to the store the other day and noticed a couple walk in to buy groceries. They looked to be in their 40s and they drew attention to themselves because I heard shouting from the woman. She was bossing the guy around and telling him what to buy the whole time. When the man looked over at me I could see the expression of defeat on his face like utter sadness and hopelessness. And of course he paid for everything at the counter. I really felt for him, as I was once in the same kind of toxic relationship with a controlling and manipulative woman. I wonder what will happen to them.
