So my stbxw moved my son to Texas. We were living and working abroad. I’m not from the US but she’s kindly offered to either get me a green card or to visit my son from overseas. I took the option of the green card and am about a year into the process. I was shocked to find out that even with 50/50 parenting time, one parent must pay the other child support. I’m assuming that’s me. She has started a business there with her sister and will likely be making more than me (though she is likely to hide it) and you know I’ll be an immigrant.Is there any way to mitigate this? It seems so unfair.
