Do you sometimes feel that your conversations with women feel like two friends catching up without a clear romantic or sexual energy?
The conversations can seem forced with awkward silences leaving both you and the girl feeling quite uncomfortable.
You potentially even go on many dates but you struggle to escalate and they seem to be stuck, not really going anywhere. And of course after the date, the girl usually doesn’t see you again.
And because of all of this, you feel like you are wasting great opportunities and missing out.
This is one of the most common patterns in dating. And the biggest reason guys can’t move things forward is the fear of showing intent. You’re either too passive, or you wait for ‘the perfect moment’ that never comes.
In this post I will explain how you can finally learn to show proper intent and take your conversations from platonic to romantic.
So intent is simply communicating that you're interested in more than just a casual conversation. It’s letting her know that you see her as a potential romantic partner.
Let me tell you the true reasons you actually fail to show real intent that drives the conversations and dates forward.
Reason 1 - Only relying on words and specifically compliments
What’s interesting is that a lot of guys think they are showing intent by just giving a few compliments.
‘I think you have a nice dress’, “I like your hair”
When a guy only relies on verbal compliments to show interest, it often feels like he's hiding his true intentions and not committing 100%. You are not really jumping in the cold water, just dipping your toes. And when a girl senses hesitation, she loses attraction.
Instead your body language, eye contact, voice tonality, and overall energy convey more than words ever could.
So leaning in, having a piercing, strong eye contact, slow, deep voice and a flirty demeanour show much more deep and authentic intent than words ever do.
Don’t tell her you are interested in her, show her.
Also compliments, especially if given too early, can create pressure or make the interaction feel forced. The woman might feel the need to reciprocate or feel awkward if she’s not yet sure about the guy
Rather than pressure, you want to build tension.
When you combine flirting techniques like playful teasing with non-verbal signals like lingering eye contact and a confident posture, you create a powerful dynamic that keeps her engaged. The tension builds naturally, which is far more compelling than verbal compliments
To summarise, verbal intent without non-verbal intent means absolutely nothing in dating interactions.
However, showing non-verbal intent is much harder and now we come to the second reason why showing intent is hard for most guys.
And the reason 2 is fear of rejection
Most guys deep down have a massive fear of rejection which is why it’s actually hard to show non-verbal intent.
That’s why just saying a few compliments is a lot easier - because you are not really committing 100%. And that is also the reason because your convos and dates feel forced and don’t go anywhere.
And the girl can feel this. She can feel you are not really sure of yourself and you are doubting yourself. And when that happens, she loses a lot of attraction.
So the only way you can really master showing intent is by conquering your fear of rejection. Without it, you will never truly reach your potential in your dating life and your dates will lack that spark and fire you desire.
And finally reason 3 is not being able to just go for it
Intent is not a one time thing. It’s About Repeatedly Showing Desire
A lot of guys just wait for the perfect moment that never comes. Because the only perfect moment is at the start of the interaction - and the longer you wait, the harder it becomes.
Intent is not about giving a few compliments here and there and waiting for her to respond—it's about continuously showing that you are comfortable with your attraction and expressing it in different ways throughout the interaction.
So the key question is - how do you learn all of these things?
Because it’s one thing to know all of this, but how do you practise and get better at this?
You could go on a lot of dates, but the problem is that most guys don’t have a lot of dates.
And even if you could magically go on a lot of dates, I find it’s not very time inefficient because of the extended feedback loop.
If you are not showing intent, the date will just come to a painful stop at the end of the night but you will need to spend multiple hours to find out you messed up.
So in my humble opinion, the best way to learn this is to master daygame and here is why.
1 - it teaches you how to get over your fear of rejection which is the underlying core pillar you need in order to be able to effectively show intent. And in daygame you face a lot of rejection, and in order to master it, you will need to figure out how to deal with it.
2 - it teaches you show non-verbal intent. In Daygame, if you rely on purely verbal intent, your interactions most often won’t go anywhere (which is why most guys fail). However, if you can learn to properly show non-verbal intent in these kind of conversations, you won’t have any problem doing the same in other situations or on your actual dates.
3 - it teaches you to just go for it. When you approach a girl, you really only have a few seconds to demonstrate in an authentic way you like here. If you fail, she will blow you out immediately. So when you learn to go for it here, you will create a habit to go for it in any other situation
4 - it’s a really fast feedback loop. If you fail to show proper intent - you will know immediately instead of waiting hours to find out at the end of the day. Hence you can practice this again and again by initiating many conversations
5 - when you learn this, it will just give you tons of dates. A good side benefit.
However, notice I say you need to master daygame, not just do it. The reason I make this distinction is that just by going out a few times and getting rejected a few times won’t teach you to show intent.
You need to commit, find resources to learn, put this as one of your priorities and take massive action.
Hope this helps
