I've noticed something how people reaction to a woman assaulting a man- the man is always more sharply scrutinized. Even if the woman has a weapon, people are more concerned with whether or not the man defended himself "too much" than the fact that the woman physically assaulted a man, again, even with a weapon.
People will often ask "so what did you do to make her assault you?"
"Why did she assault you?"
"What happened before though?"
To imply that the man is somehow at fault.
And unless it ends in actual murder, a man who is stabbed by a woman will receive very little sympathy. It seems to "not count" it peoples minds, they will see it as either unserious, or even funny.
