Recently, I went through an ordeal which, on the surface, may seem bad, but in the end, did me much good. The short of it is that the President of a certain company tried shorting me on some pay. And boys let me tell you, there is nothing like having an enemy and someone to fight against to make you creative! You do not steal from me with impunity!
I started researching my enemy to find a weakness. I looked into his life with a microscope to find some form of leverage outside of the normal conventions. I looked into judicial and civil options, scoured social media, and even called all my friends to see if they had some angle I might have missed. After mustering everything I could think of and a few sleepless nights, I, with the grace of God, prevailed over my enemy and was paid what I was due.
Lessons and Principles
When I received the call that I won, I felt happy for a bit, but then I felt disappointed. Within seconds of ending the call, it felt like a lot of energy left my body. All that creativity, force, and drive seemed to have vanished. After thinking about it for a bit, I realized that when I had a definite goal and desire, the rest just took care of itself.
If I could define my goal, it was this: Make that thieving rat pay me immediately!
Out of this, I am reminded of two principles that I find to be useful:
1. Find an Enemy, or Redefine What Your Enemy Is
Find someone or something you hate. It could be a person or a concept. It could even be an attitude within yourself that you hate. Tired of being fat? Make an enemy of that slob within you. Hate that weakness with all your might. And I do not mean get angry, although that can help. See it as a mission to defeat that weakness and slovenly nature within you. This will call forth all manner of creative ways to fight and tackle this problem. Perhaps you don’t practice game. Or maybe you are poor. Learn to hate poverty. Whatever the thing or person is, don’t be wishy-washy; define your enemy and your goal. For example I could have said " aw shucks that guy did not pay me, I better talk to someone" instead it became " That Rat Bastard Stole from me! Fuck that guy, I am getting my money!"
2. Parkinson’s Law
The amount of time you allocate to do something is the amount of time it will take you to complete it. Think back to when you were in school, and you had two weeks to complete a project. Did you do it steadily over that period, or did you procrastinate till the last minute and do it in the last day before it was due? Clearly, you did not need two weeks. It only took that long because you had a deadline.
To use this law, give yourself a timeline, and you’ll be surprised how this actually works. From “I will finish this workout in 30 minutes” to “I will prep all my gear before 10 a.m.,” I find that regardless of the task, I always pull through more efficiently than had I not defined a time limit. I have even done something like “before I leave this mall, I will approach three different women.”
Final Thoughts
In your own life, you will encounter principles and make observations that can benefit you. It’s your job to take those lessons and find a way to prosper by them. Pay attention to how people responded to what you said and take notes. Remember what happened when you dressed well and people treated you better. Take the lesson from one area of life and apply it elsewhere. Even the primal desire to fight and fuck can be used creatively. If I could sum it up it would be this: Fail, learn, apply, rinse, and repeat. Keep seeking the ways of Don Juan.
Respectfully,
The Most Alpha of Bunnies
