A short time ago, I was invited by friends to help cast a community arts project and saw something that disturbed me a lot. On their auditioning panel, we had a huge number of female and a handful of male applicants turn up. But it wasn't the gender ratio that concerned me: rather the fact that the men who turned up weren't even trying.

They hadnt prepared their performance pieces and stumbled over their delivery. And sure some of the ladies struggled, but most threw themselves into each audition and nailed their chosen roles. In short, the females mopped the floor with their male counterparts. As a man, it was embarrassing to watch.

Now sure, women usually do well in artistic subjects because they take more of a natural interest in them (men usually prefer the STEM subjects by contrast). But this was so one sided it was a total balls up. And yes we know the reason why.

Turn on your TV and watch a commercial or a sitcom and you ll be shown incompetant men failing at everything. They ll either mess up a task or forget something or say the wrong thing. And of course a woman has to come and rescue them. In other words the message to male viewers is: don't even try.

But this is not true. Don't belive this crap. It s part of an agenda. Regardless of the BS you are being fed, remember that YES YOU CAN.
