I met me wife right before the pandemic hit and the moment I met her, I knew she was my person. We went through Hurricane Helene together with no power, water or sewage for nearly 21 days. We had many great times with together, explored new places together and laughed a lot, yet at times it felt like I wasn’t married, we would go months without any physical connection at all, cyclical arguments over stupid shit, and her accusing me of cheating, always blaming me every time we had an argument. I have definitely been experiencing depression for a while now, and constantly hoping the relationship would take a turn, but it never seemed to. She has been on antidepressants most of her adult life and I think it numbs her and makes her a bit disconnected. Yesterday, she came back from the doctors appointment and said she was done. I am sad, yet relieved. I really wanted it to work, yet, I am exhausted and burnt out. Next step, the logistics and heart break of divorce.
