I have a friend that coaches girls volleyball at the club, high school, and college level. I have heard women call him creepy numerous times. One time I heard some of his college athletes call him creepy. I started asking them questions about why they thought he was creepy. Did he do something specific that makes him creepy? Did he say something to you that was creepy? Was there ever an uncomfortable situation that he didn’t act appropriately? No, they didn’t have any valid reason to call him creepy. And I wasn’t confronting them, I was just hoping that they would give me some example that would confirm that he is creepy. They had nothing. Not one example or situation. But they laughed and stood by their accusation that he is creepy. Not one ounce of empathy for the fact that they were demeaning his character publicly with nothing to back it up.

About girl that asked average work Joe if he would go out with her. What exactly you can really do in this situation? If you agree you are creepy Joe and you would be dragged to HR office and possibly fired, if you disagree she can go nuclear as it would punch her inflated ego a bit too much, aka provoking many bad actions from her and eventually HR getting you fired for making hostile work environment.

Maybe you can lie to talk your way out, as you have girl already or something like that. Too much mental gymnastic to not being fired in the end, smh

that coworker thing,

a similar incident happened to a friend of mine in late his 20s.

new coworker came and wanted to climb the ranks quicker or be more liked than her competition (my friend) so she starts spreading these rumours about my friend liking her or something.... she didn't blow it out of proportion or anything but my friend actually got scared that she might one day falsely accuse him of something.

Luckily he was there longer and had good rapport with his female colleagues who were willing to be witnesses of his innocence should that coworker do anything like that, good thing my friend told his colleague what was happening before the coworker did anything, his boss was more trusting of the coworker though, but she soon transferred somewhere else so nothing took place but there was potential.
