Don't worry, they (and their political handlers) will need us to make those sacrifices again, probably soon, as resource issues start to bite on energy, minerals and semiconductors.

Why should we put ourselves on the line to protect the interests of people who do not respect ours?

The narrative that the second World War was a struggle of good against evil is belied by a basic examination of the facts- and utterly demolished by a more thorough one. How many nations declared war on Nazi Germany because of their appalling human rights abuses? Or the imperial Japanese, who were even worse? How about the United States, which imprisoned its own citizens based on their ethnic origin? Well, no one had had a problem with them doing that in the previous war (most people don't even know it happened), so...

Here's the big question, though: how many of those who died in that nightmarish battle were there willingly? On EITHER side?

They didn't die "for us to be able to live the lives we do today"; they didn't die for "freedom" or some such abstracted nonsense- they died for governmental and corporate hegemony, and pretending otherwise is the reason it's going to happen again.

I was just out of school when the last of the WW1 veterans died, and in earlier years, I'd seen the change- the narrative going from "these men were heroic defenders of liberty" to "these poor schmucks were the victims of a political clusterfuck". That we're not going to see that with the subsequent war due to the propaganda campaign is tyranny's greatest victory.
