This is one thing which is propagated for men and actually IS right and proper advice. Men need to develop that strong sense of self-compassion, which often is lacking.
But what's interesting to me is that people propagating this, often from progressive camps, they only know half the equation.
They surmise (correctly), that working on intransient self-esteem in men will solve a lot of desperation, helplessness and anger.
It's all true, but then they expect that these empowered men would reintegrate firmly in their established culture.
This isn't true at all because humanism is partially false. It assumes there exists a correct base of understanding where people can speak openly and find the same common ground. But cognitivism tells us differently.
Without boring too deeply into that topic. What it means is that men with strong self love will not automatically provide them with men that are more mallable, easier to influence, make use of, and exploit. On the contrary, this man will be even better at exposing false narratives, nurture his independence and resilience.
Ok, one phrase which perfectly encapsulates my argument. "Who hurt you?"
The one saying this assumes you are wrong. And the reason you are wrong is because your self-esteem has shattered. If it weren't for that, you'd have the same opinion that they have.
See what I mean?
