I don't know many western shows since I'm a foreigner - but there's two videos which I've really thought were insightful.

''Sexual assault of men played for laughs'' is the main title. One video is about male perpetrators - other is about female perpetrators. Opened my eyes through and through.

Casual violence, too. It is so common to see a woman slap a male friend because she didn't like what he said, and it's played as funny.

Yeah, it's not just the West. I've heard india has the same problem

In both Riverdale & 13 Reasons Why there are scenes where girls run into the boy's locker room. The boys then hastily try to cover themselves up with embarassed faces while the girls are having a chat with one of them that apprently could not wait until he was fully dressed. What really stands out is the way its framed: we are supposed to be amused by the boys' embarassment and the girls ""tough"" attitude of not caring about being inappropriate. Because being a terrible human being is a sign of strength for female characters, apparently.

There are a lot of scenes in today's media where girls/women are behaving terribly and it's portrayed as something cool that the audience is expected to cheer for.
