"We need to talk."

In my experience "we need to talk" is never followed by a casual chat with a woman, but some melodramatic argument over an non-issue they've been mulling over all day. They are attempting to pull you into their frame. The first time any girl says this to me, I immediately let them know it's a pet-peeve of mine and to never preface a conversation with that statement. I find it anxiety-inducing and disrespectful, so I squash it and set that boundary at the very first instance.

My girl tried that a couple times. I just responded with "I can't". Then she always asked why. I came back with "Because I don't want to." And laughed.
