This lady has written a headline Times article so she's not some niche nobody - women are presumably being shown her views.

Anyways the article is filled to the brim with financial recklessness being excused (spending unfiled tax money, buying designer clothes "for her job" etc).

She makes the whole "unpaid childcare responsibilities" argument - which I agree is to an extend valid - yet further down the article it's clear that she worked while her husband paid an amount nearly equal to her actual salary in childcare bills.

Yet the author is clearly assuming the reader will agree with her that her husband is a piece of trash?!

She also casually takes enough of his money to buy herself two houses, renting out the second to fund a retirement she never worked for, and still plays the financial victim card.

As a guy who permanently left home at 18 with my brother's old broken laptop and some clothes - now in my mid 20s with a small amount of savings (thanks to not taking a single holiday in 7 years - I haven't left the UK in that time) and have very good career prospects (multiple Oxbridge STEM degrees and leading research in machine learning)...

..the prospect of marriage is pretty daunting. No way in hell do I want someone to take 50% + of everything I've sacrificed a decade of my life in libraries and labs instead of partying and shopping to build.
